Description
Who’s your IG crush? We know you have one!
As of October 2020, Facebook and Instagram were reported as having more than a billion users on each app worldwide! Of these users, more than 500 million on Instagram and a billion on Facebook are said to engage on the apps daily. Have you seen the #WCW hashtag? Well the #WCW hashtag, an acronym for “women crush Wednesday”, is used across various social media platforms and has over 60 million Instagram posts as of October 2020. That’s a lot of crushes!
Based on the data, crushes and admirers are abundant on social media and we see why. In many ways, social media is a platform for people to virtually display their personal portfolios. For many, social media is a place to curate their identity and inner voice, a place to highlight their achievements and best self, a space to display their alter egos and a means to catalogue their interests and desires. As app users, we scroll and swipe with intrigue, admiration, amusement and even lust. We acquire a virtual connection to our “FB or IG friends/girlfriends in our head”. We feel like we know the people behind the accounts and would like to connect with them but what’s stopping us? We believe it’s FEAR.
Many users troll accounts. They view all posts but selectively double tap to “like” certain pictures and videos. When feeling brave, these users may comment or even save or share a favorited post. Sound familiar? Instagram and Facebook give us access to millions of people on any given day but fear stops us from making connections. If this resonates with you, then let us introduce you to The IG Assist.
